M S Dhoni Still is a Champion finisher But he Should Retire now

M S Dhoni has always been a hot topic in news; doesn’t matter he plays well or goes through a rough patch of his career. Well, this Indian captain is a bohemian no doubt. He is a risk taker, which makes him a gambler in critics’ tongue. What so ever, Dhoni has achieved milestones that needs some special skills and luck as of him. Post World cup, the days are not going so well for this 34 years old. Bangladesh tour gave him an unpleasant surprise, and the hosts are already cornered by South Africa. Fingers are being raised about Dhoni’s finishing ability and captaincy, which is simply unfair and quite litter as a topic. Yes, as far as his retirement is concerned, it’s certainly an issue about which Dhoni should be grilled. An analytical dig at performance: Let’s start with the anguish against him. Taking the last few matches in to account, there is absolutely Dhoni could have done much as a captain. The first t20 match was well in favour of men in blue, until the unfortunate decision and clueless Axar Patel were evident. In a squeezed format it’s like one question carrying hundred marks. You have no time to compensate for a wrong decision, or the cute mistakes by a tyro, especially when the rival is South Africa. Second t20 at Cuttack was a nightmare, and was having merely anything left for a skipper. However, the first on-day at Kanpur definitely offered the most shocking outcome for a captain, or a fan. The particular match is having enough to put Dhoni and his men in custody. Well, as far as captaincy or performances are concerned about the match, Dhoni was never outrageous the way it is being depicted. Despite the most dependable bowler leaving in the middle due to some unfortunate injury, the rivals could have been bundled well within 280. But, you can’t really help as a captain when the much experienced frontline bowlers pour out runs in an effortless way (refreshing the forgettable 90s’ memory) for the rival teams. As far as contribution through bat is concerned, Dhoni’s criticism turning another achievement in the list was just a six away. No doubt, he floundered; eleven in an over was not difficult for a batsman like him in slog overs, and he has done it so many times before. But, he is too adept in recovering from the worst phases you can’t deny as well. Retirement: Dhoni should be apparent about it Now taking a gaze at his retirement, it definitely makes sense. To be honest, Dhoni is getting a bit voracious. Fitness is a point definitely taken in to account when it’s about a player’s retirement. Dhoni was clearly not at best of his fitness in the match. We have seen him scoring seventy-eighty runs with a single or two boundaries. But, in the Kanpur match, he was seen pretty tired at just thirty runs. We believe he still can manage, but, how long? Next 50-over world cup is well ahead, in 2019. Dhoni would be 38 then, an age at which dealing with the daunting tasks of captaincy, wicket keeping, and contributing with bat ( especially up to his standard) seems quite impossible. Why so greedy? Yes, 2016 world cup in India would have definitely been Dhoni’s prime target. Frankly, this is where Dhoni is getting a bit greedy. You have achieved enough Mr. Dhoni. Let a young captain get a big opportunity, as you were given in 2007. In fact, the present team is much more prepared and experienced in comparison the one you were having then. Be it Viral Kohli (which is quite imminent, unless he continues his poor form), or anyone else, this would be a great test to test how well he is holding the nerves in big occasions. Your selfless image could be more concrete if you retire at the present scenario, Mr. Dhoni.
