It’s not common to see a fairly successful female Bollywood star get married and then leave the glamourous life of page 3 to become everything for their husbands. In this story we lay down a list of Bollywood actresses that left their career after marriage.

1. Genelia D’Souza

This young and beautiful woman almost gave a heart attack to thousands of her fans when she married her love, Riteish Deshmukh on February 3, 2012. 

2. Saira Bano

She was at the heights of her career when she decided to get married to Dilip Kumar who was an even more successful actor. She was 22 when she married him in 1966.

3. Meenakshi Sheshadri

Meenakshi was a well-established name in showbiz. She has starred in super hit movies like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak. Her movies are still shown on TV channels, mostly the movies where she co-starred with Sunny Deol.

She got married to an investment banker, Mr. Harish Mysore. She then on left her career as an actress and took the path of being a homemaker. She teaches classical Indian dances in Sugarland, Texas where she lives with her family.

4. Sonali Bendre

She starred in several popular and hit movies in Bollywood. She has starred with almost all the great Khans of Bollywood. She married actor and director, Mr. Goldie Behl in 2002.

Although she didn’t completely leave the industry, she recently starred in the Akshay Kumar starrer film, “Once Upon a time in Mumbai 2”. According to her, this was the last time that she is appearing on the big screen.

5. Bhagyashri 

She was a big name back in the 90s. Her biggest hit was with Salman Khan, Maine Pyaar Kiya. However, not too late that she married Bollywood actor Mr. Himalaya when she was 19.

6. Gayatri Joshi

She starred against Shahrukh Khan in Swades in which she played the role of a village school teacher. However, she left the Bollywood industry as she married the MD of Oberoi Constructions in 2005, Mr. Vikas Oberoi. She is the mother of two sons now.

7. Twinkle Khanna

She was making it big with movies like Baadshah, Mela and Internation Khiladi. However, she left her career when she married Akshay Kumar back in 2001.

8. Neetu Singh

Neetu Singh started her acting career at an early age and her relationship with Rishi Kapoor was an early affair too. She dated him for 7 years before marrying him at the age of 21.
